What is Real-Time Traffic Intelligence?
Real-Time Traffic Intelligence is a road-level view of traffic conditions as they occur. We recompute the data every 30 seconds, 24hours a day, 365 days a year.
But it's more than just a view of traffic conditions on the road. For every road section, we can provide travel times and speeds across those road segments. And because we've got a rich and deep archive of where vehicles and people have moved in the past, we can also provide alerts on where there's abnormal traffic conditions.
We also use that same archive and insight to detect, in real-time, when roads are closed, and subsequently notify you when these roads reopen and we see vehicles traveling normally. These features combined, ensures Real-Time Traffic Intelligence is a comprehensive set of insight that all customers can use.
Why have we built this product?
We built Real-Time Traffic Intelligence so we can do the heavy lifting for our customers. We've developed advanced map-matching algorithms, which are squeezing out every single data point, meaning that our speed values are more accurate. We take responsibility for intelligently fusing real-time and historic insight, meaning that we can publish reliable travel times across the whole road network.
We also recognize the trend and commercial opportunity of using crowdsource maps. Wejo’s Real-Time Traffic Intelligence is optimized for OpenStreetMaps, which means if you're a developer, you're going to love how quick and easy it is to integrate this into your solution.
Who is this product for?
When we built the product, we adopted a customer-centric approach, ensuring every detail and feature would improve decision-making process.
The government and civil engineering sector are keen to understand what's occurring in real-time on their roads, so they can react and make them safer. The information available through Real-Time Traffic Intelligence enables them to better plan for the future, and also understand what future road networks require.
For customers in the fleet and logistics market, real-time insights help them create more reliable routes for their drivers, better understand when deliveries can be made, and reassure their customers that deliveries will be made on time.
Within the navigation and mapping industry, it means our partners that are developing digital maps have improved insights into where vehicles are traveling, from which they can create navigation apps that provide drivers with more accurate travel times. And offer routes that make sense to them.
