Our vision, investor information and leadership team profiles
Word from Richard
Hey everyone, I hope you had a great Easter and have had a great week so far.
This week we’ve been back working hard behind the scenes ahead of some exciting announcements and content launches in the coming weeks, but we do have some cool things to update you on.
We’ve been working once again with our friends at Purdue University on another extremely important paper, that we collectively hope will help to increase intersection safety and save lives. True data for good!
In addition to this we celebrated another Data Day at Wejo. Data Day is when we receive the latest figures on the number of vehicles on our platform and we publish the incredible quantity of secure, anonymized and high-quality data we ingest and analyze.
It’s so exciting that these monthly updates continue to show consistent growth in all areas of our business; the size and scale of our operation are both things we’re very proud of at Wejo. They are what will continue to keep our space as market leaders in this amazing, connected vehicle data space.
You’ll find more details on Purdue University’s paper and our latest Data Day facts below.
Final thing from me, keep an eye out on our YouTube channel early next week, as we release our latest great content campaign. We can’t wait for you to check it out. See you next week!
Latest Wejo facts
Each month, we celebrate Data Day at Wejo, where we publish a summary of our latest key figures, including how many live vehicles are on the platform, how many data points and miles are curated and how many journeys.
The latest mind-bogglingly high numbers include 10.7 million live vehicles on our platform, which provide 13.2 billion data points from 58 million journeys every day – crazy numbers, we know.
It gets even more amazing when you total the data ingested to date, which is currently 5 petabytes of data, from 42.3 billion journeys over 336 billion miles (a petabyte is equal to 1 million gigabytes)!
We’re really proud of not only the sheer volume of the data we ingest and process, but the quality of this data and, very importantly, how secure it all is – that’s what makes us the market leaders.
Purdue University Research Paper
This week our close collaborators, Purdue University, released an open-access publication, "A Proactive Approach to Evaluating Intersection Safety Using Hard-Braking Data”, which was based on Wejo’s data.
The goal of this paper is a subject very close to Wejo’s heart, which is to allow agencies to be more proactive with intersection safety improvements, ultimately helping to minimize accidents and fatalities.
Although all of our data is used for good, it’s always a great feeling for our data to be used for such lifesaving work such as this, especially when working with our partners at Purdue University.
That’s just one of the many amazing things Wejo’s data is helping to achieve.
