Our vision, investor information and leadership team profiles
Word from Richard
Hey everyone, it’s that time of the week again where I get to speak to all of you directly, to wrap up another great week for Wejo and the first month of this series – time really flies!
Our big news this week was the announcement of a very exciting partnership for Wejo and the connected vehicle market. We announced a new, deep working relationship with one of the world’s leading automotive suppliers, HELLA, which will see both businesses tap into each other’s expertise and capabilities to grow further as market leaders. We’re delighted about this, and that HELLA have come on board as minority stakeholders in Wejo.
In other news, this week our team hosted a webinar on big mobility data and we put out some more content that I’ve heard has been well received by all of you! We’ve also seen some awesome uses of our data by Purdue University and the Indiana DoT to gain some potentially life-saving insights.
All in a week’s work for our amazing team!
Outside of Wejo, we’ve been following President Biden’s evolving plans for a massive nationwide infrastructure bill with great excitement. We’re lucky to be present at the cusp of some really incredible revolutions in connectivity, infrastructure, data and electric vehicles and look forward to what the future holds.
Read on below for more details on what we’ve been up to on the #wejourney.
HELLA Partnership
This week, we announced a new partnership we’re hugely excited about. HELLA, one of the world’s leading automotive suppliers, has entered a partnership with us which will allow them to tap into our world-leading data processing, analysis and marketplace.
For Wejo, the partnership will help us develop an even deeper understanding of sensor data and to use it as a basis for developing even better products. This deal also sees HELLA acquire a minority stake in our business, adding to the growing list of our high-profile backers and partners.
We’re really excited to work closely with HELLA to further improve our understanding and products, helping to cement our position as the market leader in connected vehicle data.

Webinar
We hosted a webinar on “Big Mobility Data: Enhancing Strategic Decision Making” with our VP of Partnerships, Joe Boyle, and Director of Data Science & Analytics, Daniel Tibble.
They explained in-depth how connected vehicle data is collected, how it compares to other sources of data such as from mobile phones, the anonymity and security of the data and how this data can be deployed to better the world around us.
It was a truly fascinating discussion, so if you missed it, don’t worry – we’ve got you covered – a recording of the event is available here.
Topics included:
Behind the wheel
Richard got behind the wheel of two of the 10.6 million cars on our platform, the Corvette C8 and the GMC Yukon, to take them for a spin while explaining how Wejo powers their connectivity.
The videos are available in this YouTube playlist, so sit back and relax, while Richard takes you for a drive in two of General Motors’ newest cars, as he explains in real-time, what data the vehicles provide and how we use the data for good.
Purdue
Purdue University, with the Indiana Department of Transportation, this week released an ‘Evaluation of the Impact of Presence Lighting and Digital Speed Limit Trailers on Interstate Speeds in Indiana Work Zones’.
The paper was informed by Wejo’s data, which helped the authors understand the impacts of presence lighting and digital speed limit trailers on Indiana’s work zones’ safety.
It’s a shining example of how connected vehicle data can be used to inform policy that literally saves lives; another example of data for good which we’re proud to have worked on with Purdue University and Indiana’s DoT.
