Hi everyone, it’s great to have this new channel opened up where I can speak directly to you about what we’ve been up to each week and what else you can expect as we continue on the #wejourney.

It’s been a really tremendous week for Wejo, with lots of exciting content going live on our social channels, as well as announcements of a whole bunch of events where myself and members of the Wejo team will be speaking. We are excited to ramp up our conversations with you guys, demystify the world changing potential connected car data has and bring you on the journey with us as we lead the way in this sector.

In non-Wejo specific news, the UK’s budget was announced and we were happy to see the North of England being recognised for the incredible growth area it always has been.

That news had further strengthened our optimism about the future for Wejo, the UK and connected car data.

Thank you for joining the #wejourney and check out the breakdown of what we’ve been up to this week below…

#wejourney

Following last week’s launch of the #wejourney campaign page, we’ve been rolling out the first few videos of the campaign series.

In this series, our Founder & CEO, Richard, will be breaking down some of the most important subjects about Wejo’s creation, mission and vision.

They range from why Wejo was founded in the first place and the problem we are solving to where we are now and how Richard sees connected car data shaping so many parts of our lives in the near future.

More of these videos will be released on our Twitter page over the coming weeks, so keep an eye out for them, to hear everything you need to know about the #wejourney, in Richard’s own words.

If you missed it, you can see the first of the videos explaining Wejo’s inception and what Wejo means to Richard on our Twitter page here and here.

Wejo on YouTube

Shmee150 x Wejo

If you’re a car fan, Tim Burton, better known as Shmee150, needs no introduction.

But for those of you who haven’t heard of him, Tim is one of the biggest and most influential automotive content creators in the world. Not only that, but he is a friend of Richard’s and a friend of Wejo’s.

He’s currently doing a tour of the US, travelling from East Coast to West and doing what he does best – creating the best YouTube content in the world!

Keep an eye out for his video later today, where he will be drag racing a Corvette C8 against his Mustang GT500 at Hennessy Performance outside of Houston, Texas, as well as explaining how that Corvette is one of over 10m cars on Wejo’s platform and what that means.

We can also exclusively tell you that Tim will also be catching up with Richard on how the race goes, how Wejo is changing the automotive world and how Richard’s McLarens, which he has raced in before, are doing. This video will be released on our channels on Monday.

Neither of these are to be missed, so keep an eye out on Shmee150’s and our own YouTube channels!

EVs insights

Speaking of which, another more-specific application of connected car data in Smart Cities is to inform urban and electric vehicle infrastructure planners’ decisions on where to invest resources and build EV charging stations.

This week, we released findings from our EVs Driving & Charging California report, which uncovered many previously unknown insights into everything EV in the Golden State.

From our connected car data, we were able to shed a light on the fact that Los Angeles has the highest availability of charging ports, whilst Santa Cruz has the least; we also showed that the vast majority of EV owners charge their cars at home rather than stations.

We’ve created a slick graphic you can view here to see more, it’s great!

Move 2021

Want to learn more insights? Then you won’t want to miss Daniel Tibble, our Director of Science Analytics at Wejo, speaking at MOVE America 2021 – the largest mobility event in the world.

He’ll be lifting the lid on how connected car data is the bedrock of smart traffic management and much, much more.
