Word from Richard

Hi everyone. Welcome to the Weekly Wrap.

Marking the so-called ‘Freedom Day’, the team here has been busy preparing to reopen our Manchester and new Chester offices once again. While our colleagues will have the flexibility to choose how often they use the office facilities; I’m delighted to at least have the option once again. Many of our new colleagues have never had the chance to meet in person or see our offices, so this will go a long way to helping cement the team feeling.

Speaking of team feelings, this week we held our first LinkedIn takeover with one of our employees, Jordan Guerrero, showcasing her video all about life at Wejo. Jordan’s is just the first in a series of videos from employees and in it she shares her experiences of working life at Wejo, the environment that positively challenges our teams, and the closeness of the team despite the distances between them.

Of course, we can’t let the week go by without mentioning the Euros and England’s agonizing defeat to Italy on penalties. The result may not be what everyone hoped for, but the team brought together a nation and provided much needed positivity in this most difficult of years. Congratulations also go to the Italy team, who were excellent throughout.

Encouraging for me was my team’s response to the abhorrent racism leveled at the young players who missed their penalties. We have an incredibly diverse team at Wejo and believe that this makes us stronger and more creative.

We stand against racism.

We stand against discrimination.

We are committed to inclusivity.

This is the Wejo way, and we’re proud of all members of our team.

On the external front, our teams were busy at the EU Webinar and the ESRI User Conference, with some very positive discussions and feedback coming out of those sessions. Next week, we will be participating in the Freightwaves webinar with three of our team speaking on connected vehicle data and its use for fleet and logistics optimization.

Read more on these below. Thanks for reading.

Richard.

LinkedIn People Blogs Takeover

Following on from the launch of our People Blogs pages, we decided to step it up a notch and get actual home-made videos of our colleagues talking about their life at Wejo and then give them the chance to take over our LinkedIn page and share it with the world.

Jordan Guerrero, AVP of Sales Enablement, is the first talent to take the stage. She brought her unique perspective of working remotely from the US within a UK-based company, and working with colleagues she has never met who have formed a supportive network despite the ocean between them.

Check out Jordan’s LinkedIn takeover at the link, here.

Webinar

Webinars

This week Wejo hosted a webinar for an EU audience on ‘Smarter Traffic and Transportation’, where our team discussed what connected vehicle data (CVD) is and the benefits of using it over traditional data collection methods. Additionally, we presented at Esri UC on ‘What CVD tells us about our roads’. With over 900 session views at the ESRI User Conference and around 150 booth visits, the event proved to be a success.
