States’ Experience with Real-Time Connected Vehicle Data
Compiled by technical representatives from the Departments of Transport (DOT) from six different US east coast states, this Eastern Transport Coalition-led report looks at how real-time connected vehicle data can be delivered and visualized in real-time to make vital and time-critical decisions.
South-eastern states impacted by hurricane events were invited to participate in this study, which included DOTs from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. They used three months of connected vehicle data from Wejo along with access to Moonshadow (DB4IoT) analytics platform to assess the viability of delivering and visualizing a real-time connected vehicle data feed.
One of the main goals of this study was to understand how DOTs could prepare a real-time volume estimate reporting tool for major weather/traffic conditions, such as hurricane evacuations.
