Word from Richard

Welcome everyone to another Weekly Wrap.

This week at Wejo we’ve broken new ground in several ways but capping them all is the announcement that Larry Burns has been appointed to our Board of Directors.

Larry’s resume needs no introduction, particularly to those in the motoring and tech industries, but is nonetheless an impressive read. He is former Corporate Vice President of R&D for General Motors, an advisor to Waymo, Goodyear, Allstate, Hess, Greentech Capital Advisors and Kitson & Partners, and a former board member of Peloton and others. His credentials speak for themselves, and we are ecstatic to have the benefit of his unparalleled experience and knowledge at our disposal. His status reflects how far we have come and underpins the outstanding work our team has put in so far to reignite the mobility revolution. You can read more about Larry’s appointment here.

Spurred on by Larry’s appointment, the signing of Microsoft as a customer, and the launch of our game-changing Wejo Studio platform, the Wejo website is seeing record visitor numbers with more than 29,000 visitors on Tuesday alone, more than 20% up on our previous best and 1,000% up on the Tuesday prior. This is just one of several indicators, some that I can’t yet mention here, that Wejo and connected vehicle data (CVD) are topics of growing interest. We have long advocated for more conversations around the subject of CVD and people from a wide variety of industries are now beginning to see what it can do for them.

That conversation came to life this week when I hosted an Ask Me Anything session on our Reddit sub-channel. I received a host of excellent questions such as how we monetize the data, who our competitors are, and what sets us apart, as well as enquiries about our relationships with OEMs and Palantir. I love having the chance to speak directly to interested parties about what we do and why as it enables us to educate people about the vast untapped potential of connected vehicle data. It’s also a great chance for them to learn more about our ambitions and why we are committed to DataForGood™.

Finally, if you missed it a couple of weeks ago, we had the pleasure of hosting the first Wejo X Palantir Hackathon at our offices in Manchester. We gave six teams just 48 hours to identify and produce a working solution to a pressing mobility challenge using Wejo’s connected vehicle data and Palantir’s Foundry platform. The results blew away the Dragon’s Den-style panel of judges, demonstrating incredible creativity and resourcefulness to produce genuinely actionable ideas. This video, posted on our LinkedIn page, captures some of the excitement of the event, and you’ll find further content recorded live on the day on our Instagramaccount.

That’s a wrap for this week so have a great weekend, and I’ll see you again next time with another Weekly Wrap.

Richard
